So blogger is driving me a little crazy because it keeps moving my pics out of order so bare with me! Last weekend we went to New London to visit the Coast Guard Academy and check out some other cool stuff.

I spent a week at the Academy when I was in high school and I was obsessed with how beautiful the campus was. Mike wasn't as impressed haha. Here's the football field.

Over looking the Thames River.

The CGA training cutter, the Eagle. Its docked at Fort Trumbull. I didn't get to see it when I came before so I was stoked!

Fort Trumbull- a fort used during the Revolutionary War.

Looking at New London from the Fort. It wasn't really that nice of a city.

New London Maritime Society. One thing we have learned since moving out here is that the slave ship the Amistad docked in New Haven and Connecticut actually played a big role in the Abolitionist Movement. We learned at the museum that the New London part of the story is often overlooked. The New London Abolitionists were actually able to prove that the Africans aboard the ship were actually slaves and on the ship against their will unlike the two Spaniards aboard the ship had claimed.

CGA soccer game.

A cool house on the coast.

Ledge lighthouse (that little box in the water).

Another cool house.

We were walking by the fort and saw this figure and we both got freaked out because we thought it was a ghost or something haha.

Me with the Eagle.

I'm so jealous of you guys. I want to live on the east coast so I can see all the historic areas and have adventures like you guys.
Have you seen the movie Amistad? It's really good. It was one of Matthew McConaughey’s first movies. I think its rated R, because of the violence towards slaves and you can easily fast forward through that. Totally worth seeing, especially since you learned about it at the museum.
I have been having the same problem with blogger and my pictures and it drives me crazy!
I wonder how much that house on the beach cost, Brett and I are looking to upgrade from our double-wide. We could probably afford it, right:)
I am also jealous that you guys get to do so much cool stuff!
