Jen = Connecticut Public Radio + Apple

This is Mike--I usually don't write posts for our blog (I actually never write posts) but this time I really should. It's my turn to talk about how awesome Jen is (and how proud/excited I am for her)...after searching a LONG time for a job that that matches her personality/ability/interests she found ONE, actually make that TWO!

Jen has an internship at wNPR (Connecticut Public Radio) and she really loves it. She helps with many aspects of the production and implementation for two shows: Where We Live (http://www.cpbn.org/program/where-we-live) and The Colin McEnroe Show (http://www.cpbn.org/program/colin-mcenroe-show). She loves both of them. Where We Live is a news talk show that focuses on issues related to Connecticut and The Colin McEnroe Show is a variety show. Some of her duties include: coming up with ideas for future shows, researching topics, editing the shows for internet use and future airing, and directing phone calls during the shows. If you listen to them you will probably even hear her name as well as some ads she has put together! This job is perfect for Jen as it exposes her to many of her interests: politics, public policy, talk radio, and semi-famous people (for those of you that don't know Jen is very star struck, even if they are only mildly famous). I'm sure I missed something so Jen might have to follow up with another post on what she does.

Since the internship is only part time (and it is an internship=no $) Jen got a job at Apple. For those of you that know the Barnes family, this isn't a surprise. I am the least Apple-ish in my family, but a proud owner of a new imac, unfortunately we got it before Jen got her new job. This job fits Jen's bubbly personality perfectly as well as her hip side.

And since it isn't a post on La Familia Barnes without a picture I figured I'd throw one in. This is a picture from Jen's graduation last year. I'm putting this picture in because I think you can say that NPR is Jen's true post-university job.
