So Microsoft has this amazing thing where it gives its employees a month of paternity leave! Holla! A month of "bonding" time with your family...I'll take it. We planned this big long road trip and I didn't think twice about it until about 4 hours in when I thought "this is the worst idea I've ever had." We stopped in Wilsonville, OR to see Dan and Casi for a bit and then headed to Eugene. A night in a Motel 6 and some breakfast at Denny's lifted my spirits a bit and we were on our way! I can't remember how many hours we drove on the first day but Rose was great. She got better as we went along and by the end of the trip it was like being in the car was no big deal. Awesome.
Our first stop was Minden, Nevada to see some of our best friends in the world, the Moore's (see "Best Day Ever). We hadn't seen them since we went to visit them in Denver when Rose was 4 months old. Their new baby girl, Reese, was only 5 weeks old so we spent our time pretty close to home. It was a blast to hang out with them again. Right before we left, at Caroline's 6 month appointment, her doctor strongly reccomended that we feed her cereal so we tried it out at their house.
I think that face says it all.
Paul and Joni are about 40 minutes from Lake Tahoe so we took a little day trip and headed to Emerald Bay. It was about a mile hike down to Vikingsholm Beach and I think we looked a little ridiculous doing it with our strollers but it was a great day.
We rented a paddle board and the four of us took turns on it.
iPad pics- Emerald Bay.
We love you Moore's!
Reese and Caroline! (Yes, Caroline was screaming).
In Nevada I also got to meet up with my dear friend Suzanne, from Hartford. Even though it was brief, it was so good to see her! I'm glad to have her back in the West ;)
* I originally had this post combined with the CA leg of the trip but I decided to make it 2 separate posts.

All that sunshine in the pictures almost makes me forget that I woke up to SNOW this morning. Dang it Wyoming!
The picture of Rose and Caroline with your Grandpa is great! But I think the pretty much professional pictures of Rose on the slip 'n slide are my favorite.
And I am so jealous about a month long paternity leave! Garrett is supposed to get 3 weeks when this baby is born, but apparently he will not be getting it because he hasn't been there a year. Lame! Not like we would have been as cool and gone on a super fun trip.
